SCOTLAND QUALIFY FOR PLAY-OFFS AT WORLD WHEELCHAIR CURLING CHAMPS

Posted on

Team Scotland finished their round robin campaign on a high after they beat Canada 5-3 at the World Wheelchair Curling Championships in Stirling. It was a day of double wins for the hosts who earlier in the day defeated Estonia 9-3 in emphatic fashion, which helped them qualify for the play-offs and they finished in third place in the final standings on a 7-4 win/loss ratio.

Paralympic champions China and Norway finished in first and second place respectively and qualify straight to the semi finals. Scotland will face sixth placed Slovakia in their play-off match as they aim to reverse the fortunes of their earlier meeting on the penultimate day of the round robin. In the other qualifying game, Switzerland will face Korea and the winners from the play-off matches will progress to the semi finals on Saturday night. The medal matches take place on Sunday.

Following the conclusion of the round robin, Canada, USA and Germany were relegated to the World B Championships.
